What location data do we collect and who can see it?

When does the app use location?

  • When you add a ride – to look up addresses, work out the route and match people travelling a similar way.
  • During a ride, if you’re the driver and you agree to it – so the passengers of your ride can see on the map where you are and when you’ll arrive.

What data do we collect from drivers?

GPS position, its accuracy, speed, direction of travel and the time of measurement. The app also collects it in the background, when it’s closed or not in use – but only around your rides with passengers: from 15 minutes before departure, during the ride and shortly after it ends. Never in between rides.

Who can see my position?

  • The passengers of your current ride – on the map in the app.
  • inOneCar – the data is sent to our servers. We also use it to check that sharing works properly.
  • Your employer can’t see it, and neither can other users. We don’t share location data with other companies.

How do I turn it off?

  • In the app: Profile → Preferences → “Share location to passengers”.
  • On your phone: remove inOneCar’s access to your location.

Sharing is voluntary. You can keep using the app without it – the passenger just won’t see you on the map.

How long do we keep the data?

For as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for – details in our Privacy policy.
