This article is for drivers who have turned on location sharing, but the passenger still can’t see them on the map. The most common cause is a phone that closes the app in the background to save battery. The basics: Location sharing – information for drivers
Start in the app
- If you see a “Passengers cannot see you” tile on the “My rides” screen, tap “Fix”.
- When a passenger asks for your location, the notification opens the “What's blocking sharing” screen. It shows three things: consent in the app, background location permission and background activity. If the app says your phone closed it several times, go to the instructions for your phone below.
- The simplest option: leave the app open for the duration of the ride.
Location (any Android)
Settings → Apps → inonecar → Permissions → Location → “Allow all the time” and turn on “Use precise location”.
Battery – by phone manufacturer
Option names differ between models and system versions. If you can’t find exactly this path, look in the inonecar app settings for “battery”, “background activity” or “autostart”.
- Samsung: Settings → Apps → inonecar → Battery → “Unrestricted”. Also check that inonecar isn’t on the list of sleeping apps (Settings → Battery → Background usage limits).
- Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO: Settings → Apps → inonecar → Battery saver → “No restrictions”. Also turn on “Autostart”. You can additionally lock the app in the recent apps list (padlock icon).
- Huawei, Honor: Settings → Battery → App launch → inonecar → turn off automatic management and turn on all three switches (auto-launch, secondary launch and run in background).
- Oppo, Realme, OnePlus: Settings → Apps → inonecar → Battery usage → allow background activity and auto launch.
- Motorola, Google Pixel and others: Settings → Apps → inonecar → Battery → “Unrestricted”.
iPhone
Settings → inOneCar:
- Location → “Always” with “Precise Location” on,
- “Background App Refresh” – on,
- “Motion & Fitness” – on, if the app asked for it.
Don’t close the app by swiping it up in the app switcher.
Motion detection
If you see a “Motion detection is off” tile, tap “Fix” or turn on the permission in your phone settings. Sharing works without it, but with it the app notices sooner when you start driving or stop, and uses less battery.
