In some networks, a driver can show passengers on the map where they are. The passenger sees when you set off and how far away you are – no calls or texts needed.
When can a passenger see my position?
Only during your rides with passengers: from 15 minutes before departure until the end of the trip. Never in between rides. Only the participants of that ride can see it.
Sharing is voluntary.
How do I turn it on?
The app will suggest it (the “Let your passenger see you're on the way” window → “Turn on”). For sharing to work, you need three things:
- Consent in the app – on the consent screen, tap “Allow”.
- Location access all the time – in your phone settings, allow inOneCar to access your location all the time (“Allow all the time” on Android, “Always” on iPhone). Your phone is usually in your pocket with the screen off.
- Background activity – on Android, turn off battery optimisation for inOneCar. Otherwise your phone may close the app and your position won’t reach the passenger.
The simplest option: leave the app open for the duration of the trip.
The passenger can’t see me
- If the app shows a tile with a “Fix” button, tap it – you’ll see what’s missing.
- When a passenger asks for your location, you’ll get a notification. It opens the “What's blocking sharing” screen, which shows what you need to turn on.
- Step-by-step battery and location settings for Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Motorola and iPhone: The passenger can’t see me – how do I set up my phone?
How do I turn it off?
Side menu (☰ icon) → “Profile” → “Preferences” → “Share location to passengers”. You can also remove the app’s location access in your phone settings.
