inOneCar connects people who commute to work in the same direction. You add your route, and the app finds people you can ride with. Here’s the whole journey – from downloading the app to your first shared ride.
1. Download the app and create an account
- Download the app from Google Play or the App Store. How do I download the app?
- Choose a network: a company one if your company or university uses inOneCar, or the public one. What is a network in inOneCar?
- Create an account and confirm your email address. How do I register?
Already have an account? How to log in?
2. Add your commute
Tap “Add” in the middle of the bottom bar. Enter your home and work addresses, choose your days and times (or your shift roster), and whether you travel as a driver, a passenger or either. How do I add a ride step by step?
In the public network you can only add rides in service areas. Where can I add a ride?
3. Complete your profile
You’ll find your profile on the More tab. Add a photo and a few words about yourself, and if you drive – your car’s make, colour and registration number. People are more willing to ride with someone they can recognise. How do I complete my profile?
4. Wait for suggestions
The app keeps looking for people travelling a similar route at a similar time. When it finds someone, you’ll get a notification, and you’ll see the number of suggestions next to your ride on the Schedule tab.
- How do ride suggestions work?
- I don’t see any suggestions – what should I do?
- I’m not receiving notifications – what should I do?
5. Arrange a ride
Pick someone from your suggestions, message them in the chat or send a booking request straight away. A booking is made when the other person accepts it. Before your first booking, the app will ask you to verify your phone number.
- Can I choose who I want to ride with?
- What happens if I don’t respond to a booking request?
- My request for a reservation has been accepted
- Why does the app ask for my phone number?
6. Ride together
Be at the meeting point on time. If the driver shares their location, the passenger sees them on the map and gets a notification when the driver arrives.
- Shared ride rules – what to keep in mind
- Trip tracking – passenger information
- Location sharing – information for drivers
- The driver is late or the passenger doesn’t show up – what should I do?
7. Share the costs
The passenger contributes to the driver’s travel costs. The app suggests a price, and in some networks it records in Settlements who owes whom. Some companies subsidise shared rides.
Where is everything in the app?
At the bottom of the screen there’s a bar with five items:
- Schedule – your upcoming rides, unread messages and suggestions for each day,
- Routes – all the routes you’ve added and the people you rode with,
- Add – add a new route,
- Chats – conversations and contacts,
- More – your profile, Settlements, points, help and logout. Some items only appear in networks that have the feature.
When plans change
If you’re not going, always cancel the ride in the app – the other person will know straight away.
- Can I cancel a reservation?
- How do I change the time or role of a ride?
- My routes – where can I see all my routes?
